In Odin's court reside beautiful maidens known as the Valkyrie. These Battle Maidens journey to battle fields the world over, singing hymns to Odin and collecting the souls of the dieing deemed worthy to join Odin's army. These souls become Einherjar, spending eternity in friendly(but generally mortal) conflict with one another by 'day' with the 'night' reserved for feasting an drinking. This army of Odin awaits a final conflict for the fate of the Spirit Realm, called Ragnarok.

Valkyrie are generally unimpressed by magic, preferring traditional implements of war, and thus the few Summoners that have ever pacted one tend to be masters of a specific weapon and dedicated to the arts of war and victory.  It is also known that the Valkyrie's dwell within their own palace within Valhalla, attached to and yet somehow seperate and hidden from the main hall of Odin, only those who pact them successfully or ascend to the ranks of Valkyrie are ever permitted to see the palace of the Einherjar.
