Chapter 13
Our intrepid group of adventures are even further under the sea then before, having braved the Arbouretum and its metallic robot guardians they have located the door to what Raziel has translated as the Marine Geology Laboratory. Which is on fire... burning, weaving, ever moving and undulating streamers of fire with the added knowledge that Raziel, Emberstrand's most acclaimed Fire Mage has decreed is not Fire and that the lady Silmeria, Hades' chosen champion of the departed has identified as being the trapped and wandering soul that requires a great act of bravery from Thaylorn to set free. Vazkor of course has just been generally heroic, amazing and down right awesome, every robot the party has come across has been easily dealt with by the SwordMaster.
Template:Master Thaylorn, Silmeria says, her voice suffused with an uncanny echo, bone-white hands clasped in front of her chest, black eyes tracing over the flickering, unnatural fires in the room beyond, Template:I know what I ask of you... but I ask, only because it is important to us all. Please... you are a being of water. Only you can douse these flames... Only you can free the soul of the poor creature trapped within. Undersized wings flutter as she speaks, as though agitated by the existence of such a thing as these soul-trapping fires.
Vazkor stands quietly with the rest of the group, peering thoughtfully at the 'flames' beyond the door, having them almost reflected off his golden eyes. After a minute however, he cocks his head slightly to the others, looking at each of one- and not at all surprised by Silmeria's current appearance, as he's seen it plenty before- before asking, "So this fire... It's ghosts, somehow? That are in pain?" And he shakes his head a bit after his own question, puzzled.
Raziel makes a face at the flames that aren't flames. Flames shouldn't /do/ that. And then he looks over at Vazkor, "so it seems.. they would know best though." A quick glance at Thaylorn then he motions towards the room, "I do not think we can pass without your help... and even if we could I do not think the lady would pass at all." The Imp's gaze shifts between the room containing the flames and Silmeria a few times over a moment or so, as if contemplating what's being asked of him carefully. "So then what am I to do, you had said I had to enter the flames...But wouldn't it be wise to douse them beforehand, or is that what I'm doing by entering them?" Thaylorn asks of the Esper, his curiosity of her current form held in check by the task at hand. "They've been trapped here, I think." He offers in reply to Vazkor before glancing over to Raziel "It looks to be true, no other way around and well...Freeing them is the right thing to do." He murmurs, tail twitching somewhat "If I die...Tell folks it was heroicly or something." He adds, a faint grin forming on his snout only briefly.
Beyong the view port the fire continues to undulate and sway..... as the party watch and their eyes adjust to the brilliant blue tinged orange flames they can see they are dancing between several racks of large pulsating purple stones that are scattered around the room.....
Template:If a child were trapped within a cupboard, would you not pause to free it? Silmeria answers Raziel, the tiniest of lines forming between coal-black eyebrows. {{So it is here... A spirit that once lived and laughed and loved beneath the waters, caged by magics that lock the dead within its flames. Thus it has been for years beyond measure, trapped, burning, terrified and alone. Beyond these walls, we hear its brethren mourning its existence.}} Letting out a soft, sad sigh, the Esper shakes her head. {{Magics may be woven and broken, master Thaylorn... But your life, this is something that cannot be denied. *You* will quench the flames, not your magic... And should the unthinkable come to pass, know that you *will* be spoken of as a hero, and it will be nothing but the truth.}}
Vazkor glances back at Silmeria for a moment, arching his eyebrow ever so mildly at all that. Looking back to the flames then however, studying them more, noting those pulsating stones, he soon nods to himself, and reaches down to draw his Cutlass, looking along the crackling, enchanted blade as he extends it infront of him. And he simply says, "We have your back, should something in there want to decide to not let you help these poor things, Imp."
Raziel shakes his head slightly at Silmeria whent he question is asked of him. I did not say we would pass either, though likely we would as we don't have the ability you obviously possess. It is not as if we wouldn't do the right thing should we know.." He stops and then frowns for a moment in thought, perhaps the one wondering why he's trying to justify himself to Silmeria, before flicking his eyes to Thaylorn and then dips his head slightly in agreement with Vazkor.
"I suppose it's not my place to deny such tormented souls the release they have deserved." Thaylorn murmurs in response, tilting his head in a nod towards Silmeria for a moment before lowering a hand to open the door so he might be able to go assist the spirits within. "Thank you all, hopefully this won't hurt too badly!" A grin and slight shake of his head proceeds the Imp's attempts to finally open, and enter the room, his gaze moving to the trapped spirits and remaining upon them.
Before he can truly open the door, Thaylorn takes a moment to think about what's within the room, and the fact that the room has potentially been sealed for thousands of years or so. "Just...A moment." He begins as he slowely pulls at the door some, allowing just a tiny crack of an opening to appear around the edges. As he does so the others could probably here the whoosh of air flowing through the small opening "The contents of the room would have come flying out here." He offers after a moment "Which would have been bad." He adds as the air equalizes from between the two rooms.
Having equalised pressure between the room and the stairs Thay is able to safely open the doorway and the heat roll out! It feels like it is sticking to skin and fur.... clothing ripples in the warm air drying out and the fire seems brighter, leaping from a crystal to another with a sharp cracking that makes the air ripple and vibrate.... It is uncomfortable but the fire and the screaming trapped spirit within continues on its circuit of the room....
Template:Good luck, Thaylorn, Silmeria says, stepping aside to allow the imp plenty of clearance. Template:May Lord Hades smile upon you.
Vazkor rubs his face a moment as the hot gust of air hits it... And he takes a step back, before nodding at Thaylorn, giving a brief grin, "Good thinking... Anyway, good luck in there. It seems to have gotten some renewed vigor." He motions at the 'flames' beyond.
Raziel's hair ruffles a little in slight breeze caused by the air pressure equalizing. The mage doesn't movethough as he looks past the imp into the room, his eyes tracing the passing flame and then he motions, "I think you will want to help it as swiftly as you can. Follow the path and be where it is going before it gets there."
"I hope I'm not going to see him smile at me in person." Thaylorn remarks back to Silmeria with a soft chuckle as he watches the flame leaping about from crystal to crystal, the wave of heat making him shake his head a bit as he moves to step into the room itself, his intent apparently to put himself in the way of the flame as it moves about, and if that fails, walk into the flame itself. The Imp doesn't know what to expect, or what to actually to do free the spirit...Maybe it'll just come to him!
The fire crackles and detaches from the stones a Thay steps into him.... it roars and flickers, coiling about the imp's body.... flaring and flickering and then it seems to invert. The flickering blue flames on the edges pour into the centre and Thaylorn's shape can be seen inside bright and glowing and hissing whilst the outer flames of orange and red flash out and up... streaming away from the imp and a deep, mournful cry echoes through the air..... the bass call of a whale in distress as the fire grows higher!
Template:Thaylorn! Silmeria calls, her voice clearly anxious. Template:You must do something, now! Tip the balance and release the spirit, else it all may explode!!
Vazkor goes slightly wide eyed as he stands there, watching Thaylorn get engulfed by those strange flames, and their strange reaction to his presence. Silmeria's call makes him briefly glance over to her, and he frowns then, not liking the mention of explosions. But he doesn't offer any advice himself either, having none to give. You page, "The spirit, when you release it will appear like a white ghost" to Thaylorn.
Raziel's arms fold over his chest, one arm lifted enough to press the back of his thumbnail to his lips. The man's eyes narrow as he hears the cry and takes in the sight before him, a half step taken forward before he moves back once more and looks at Silmeria, "can you seek guidance in how he can do that?"
If Thaylorn had heard what Silmeria had said, or if he even has a clue as to what's going on around him there is no sign, but at least the Imp doesn't appear to be writhing in pain or agony. Although the others could after a moment, bear witness to the Imp as he starts moving again, engulfed by the spiritual flame as he is...The way he moves, almost seems like a dance of some sort, ritualistic in nature and body movements, his body twirling as he spins about, arms raising and lowering. This goes on for a few moments, the sounds of the Imp's voice potentially even heard from within the flames. It doesn't take much longer for the strange, odd dance to end, the wreath of flames flashing brightly for a moment as they disappate as a strange ghostly form rises from the Imp's body.
The fires die down and the ghostly form rises slowly above Thaylorn's head, it is small... but it still fills the room and its mournful call floods through everyone as the chorus of the pod of whales outside seems to reach down... a deep reverberation that tugs at the souls of the spectators.... threatening to drag them away and pull them into the chorus as the ghost rises through the ceiling and departs. As it leaves and the last flickering edges of fire die the nethecite crystals on the workbenches and shelves all explode and Thaylorn's blue body drops limp and still to the floor.....
"Thaylorn!" As though running out from behind a curtain, the Esper's seeming melts away as the girl rushes forward the moment the blast dies away, dropping to her knees beside the imp's dazed body. "Thaylorn... are you all right? Can you talk?"
Vazkor looks upon the sight with an almost wonderous expression... Watching the spirit or whatever it was, raise up and vanish before them- Feeling at the same time the strange tugging at his very essence, but which he somehow resists. Then, as soon as the spell is broken, seeing the Imp slump to the floor, he's quick to follow after Silmeria, going to Thaylorn's side.
Raziel's eyes close as the cries echo through him, for a moment something deep within quavering before he suddenly shakes it off at Silmeria's cry. Snapping his eyes open then the man looks towards where Thaylorn has swooned and he moes forward before crouching down next to him. A hand goes a few inches over the imp's nose and then he ponders, "do imps breath? Yes of course, that would be silly." He gives the imp a little, and mostly gentle, shake then, "c'mon there, not a good time to be sleeping you know."
The Imp remains still for a few moments, only starting to regain his senses once the others have moved into the room and once shaken by Raziel. Blinking and adjusting to their surroundings once again, Thaylorn lets loose a faint groan as he fully comes to, gaze going first to Raziel "But it seemed like the thing to do.." He murmurs as he shakes his head quickly, as if to clear it. Weakened by the freeing of the spirit, and his small collapse Thaylorn takes a minute or two to get to his feet once again, his gaze shifting about the room "Guess that's it...Then, they can swim freely with their friends again."
The room is dim and mostly dark now that the fire is gone, but Thaylorn is alive and the way is open and the door opposite can be seen from were the party is gathered. A large door scarred and dark from fire scoring but most of the room is now empty and the path onward and down is clear....
"It was a wonderful thing you did," Silmeria says, a soft, grateful smile on her lips as she helps the Imp to his feet. "But I doubt it'll be the last time... come. Now that the way is clear, we've much more walking to do..." Looking up at Raziel and Vazkor, she raises her eyebrows. "...Perhaps the both of you should take the head, until Master Thaylorn regains his strength?"
Vazkor briefly reaches out to pat one of Thaylorn's shoulders, grinning some and giving a silent compliment, before he glances at Silmeria and nods, "Aye, we shall." And with that, he motions Raziel with him, before he steps forward to try to open that scorched door on the opposite end.
Raziel gives Thaylorn a brief smirk, but then nods and stands slowly. The first thing he does though is glance around the room to see if any of those strange flat keys have survived the burning. Stepping after Vazkor then he moves to the door, checking it before starting down to the next level.
Thaylorn lets out a soft sigh and smiles lightly towards Silmeria "You think there will be more like that, trapped in here then?" He asks as he glances around the burnt room before turning his gaze to the exit. "I'll help however I can, if there are." He nods a bit and starts moving towards the exit with Vazkor.
There are sadly nothing but shards of nethecite and blackened twisted metal in this room, the door beyond however opens easily. It leads out onto a gantry half the way up the wall of a large chamber, there are stairs leading up to hatches in the ceiling, one of them glowing blue the other red and down below there is what looks like some sort of mechanical repair bay as you'd get in any factory or airship foundry. Opposite the gantry of stairs are a lot of recesses filled with robotic entities, some complete, some in pieces... but there are quite a lot of them but the only light come from the hatch over-head and a door down below which Raziel knows leads to their destination and the reason for coming down here.
"I think that we have no idea *what* we'll face," Silmeria answers, tucking a lock of sun-bleached hair behind an ear. "Best to assume yet more trials lie ahead, for us all." As the party emerges into the repair bay, the Esper pauses, staring about them with wide, wonderstruck eyes. "Oh.... *my.*"
Vazkor pauses as soon as he comes up on the repair bay down below... And right after, reaches down to draw his second sword, the Katana, lightning crackling along the blade once again. He indicates his head to the various robots then, and quietly states, "Knowing our luck, we'll be fighting some if not all of those within the next few minutes... Get ready."
Raziel stops alongside Vazkor and he looks out over the bay for a few long moments before frowning to himself. "You are likely right about that." He glances behind himself then nodding to Silmeria's gunblade before looking at Thaylorn, "think you'll be ok?" The man waits a moment for an answer before he starts to move down the gantry, "either way lets move quickly and quietly. Maybe we won't draw as much attention."
"I'll be fine enough, let's just be quiet and not cause a racket, that might keep the things asleep." Thaylorn murmurs as he looks about the large chamber, eyes pausing on the machines before sighing quietly. "Let's just get out of here fast." He adds as he starts to descend down the stairs behind the others, his own hand moving to rest on the hilt of his blade.
The stairs ring under their feet, metallic and clanging no matter how carefully they move... nothing stires however, the dim light from the ceiling casting everything in odd shadows and angles but soon enough they are down on the workshop floor. Benches with half assembled or disassembled creations stacked on them and racks of ancient tools kept clean and unblemished in this ancient, dry place and the large stone door cut into the bedrock that leads into a much larger room.
"Carefully," Silmeria murmurs, eyes roving over the workbenches, her Gunblade raised to rest across her shoulder. For all that their movements haven't alerted anything *yet,* it's clear from the look in the Esper's eyes that such good fortune may not continue for very long. "...What were they *making* in this place?"
Vazkor looks around himself... Noting the tools and unfinished machines. And he just kinda shakes his head then, muttering lowly in response to Silmeria, "I'm not sure... But best not to touch anything. Wouldn't be the first time someone poked something they shouldn't have." And with that, he points a sword over at the stone door, glancing at Raziel and Thaylorn next, "Let's focus on that, hm?"
"A moogle would be in heaven here.." Raziel comments as he looks over the tools on one of the tables. He even tilts his head while considering something before looking towards the door Vazkor is motioning to. Dismissing the tools he was eyeing the man starts acrossed the room to the door and checks it over before attempting to open it while he muters, halfway to himself, "probably wouldn't be able to swim with anything we might take anyways."
Eyes wandering about to whatever they can, Thaylorn sticks close to the others "If I had to guess, whatever those things are.." The Imp murmurs softly, his fingers tightening around the hilt of his blade just in case anything does decide to leap out at them "I agree, sooner we're out of this room the less likely some metal beast eats us." He states simply as he gestures towards the door.
The big stone door is a massive block, with the tiniest of metal rimmed windows... it is hard to see through it at the room beyond. There is another circular patch at about door-handle height but there doesn't seem to be anything to grip. It is flush with the door and bisected by another slither of metal with a stud in the centre of it.
Silmeria places herself behind Raziel and Thaylorn once the door is approached and inspected, turning to watch the wider room beyond. While her Gunblade rests across her shoulders, it's quite clear that the Esper is ready to bring her weapon to bear at a moment's notice... and from the way her eyes dart around the finished and unfinished machines, it's easy to tell where she expects threat to come from. Vazkor seemingly has the same idea as Silmeria, as after a cursory once over of the door, he quietly turns to the workshop again, his two swords out to meet any threat, his eyes quietly going over each of the seemingly deactivated droids. Even so, though, he states lowly towards Raziel behind him, "Seems to me one of the coins would be the key, dear."
Raziel extends his fingers and runs them over the stud before he ponders, "likely there was some sort of latch attached to this. We probably will need to find something that will fit and try to..." Pausing he looks at Vazkor and then mutters, "or that.." The man looks back at the door for a moment before he reaches into the bag and pulls out one of the coins. Looking over it then he presses it up against the circular metal and button.
The Imp attempts to peek through the windows to little avail and deciding to let Raziel handle the exploration part of this, turns about towards the others. Thaylorn falls quiet and just lets Raziel work with the door for a few moments, he does mention "Those coins are the solution to everything, maybe." He remarks, turning about to see if his statement is indeed true.
Something in the room goes CLANK.... and gloiiing... it's a spring rolling off a table, it must have been brushed against by someone. The flickering light from the hatches in the ceiling cast conflicting shadows across the room as silence slowly returns. As Raziel presses the coin to the stud it clicks.... and the stone inside the bisected circle sinks into the door and it is possible to reach a hand in and grasp the central bar. It looks like it can be pulled out and twisted....
"Ack!" At the sudden noise, Silmeria whirls to face it... Not so much heaving her weapon around, as slipping underneath where it's pointing, and thrusting it outward in a two-handed grip... Necessary, for a weapon that weighs as much as this. Peeking around the length of polished steel, she eyes the machine, then the spring as it bounces about the floor, the point of her 'Blade wavering as she tries to keep it held out. "...What just happened...?"
Vazkor's eyes shoot towards the falling spring the instant it hits the ground... And only a brief twitch betrays his body's reaction to it, before it's kept in check. Eyeing the spring for a moment then, he soon lets his gaze wander again, carefully watching each of those droids... And as he hears the sound of the door partially activating behind him, he mutters, "I'm not sure. Keep an eye out and let's try to get through that door quickly."
Raziel stiffens and he looks around quickly before muttering, "did any of you.. bump anything?" Did he? He chews on his lip for a moment and then frowns and turns back to the door as the circle sinks in. He puts the coin away once again before reaching in, not giving himself more than a moment to worry about what reactions the door might have to him reaching in, and giving the handle a twist
"Something out there probably, we should get out of here, quick." Thaylorn murmurs softly as he draws forth his blade to be held at the ready. "I don't think so..." He adds, turning back towards the door so he can see what may lie beyond as Raziel turns the handle.
The handle turns... the door CLUNKS... then emits a series of ratcheting sounds before splitting down the middle and parting open.. Beyond it is a large ampitheatre cut out of the bedrock of the planet... 7 steps down to a massive bore-hole in the centre of the room. The baleful red glow from within it is not a welcoming sight, reflecting off the walls of the shaft. Huge machines are built up around the edge of the bore-hole and a massive piston hangs from the ceiling with a huge device suspended on the end of it that hangs above the bore-hole. The steps of the ampitheatre have desks and odd sheets of glass and peculiar machines on them but otherwise it is empty and dead....
"What on Terra..." The Esper's awestruck question trails off, unimportant and unanswerable besides. The desks lining the steps down are given a brief look, but it's the glowing pit in the center that has her attention, and by the way she cranes her neck it's easy to believe that had she wings, she'd be flying over the pit to gaze into its depths.
Vazkor slooowly turns away from the room he's facing, towards the opened door, not wanting to just turn around and get stabbed in the back by something. But the moment he's facing the ampitheatre, he blinks, his eyes equally drawn to the glowing hole. And after a moment he quietly mutters, "It looks like it'd lead straight to your father, dear."
Raziel looks around for a long few moments before he slowly starts to move into the room. "Careful now..." He looks around before motioning around the desks and strange machines set upon them. "Maybe we can find what we're looking for on one of them. Just try not to bump anything while we move around." That must've been what happened out in the maitenance wing right? Of course right.
Taking sight of the room within, Thaylorn can't help but gasp in strange fascination at what he sees. "What is that thing." He mutters as he moves to enter into the room behind Raziel, his eyes remaining on the hole in the center of the room untill the Aegyl mentions looking around, nodding quickly he begins doing that, descending down the steps while keeping his eyes open for anything that may catch his eye.
The shaft has a warmth emanating from it as the party get closer and the air is baked dry and there isn't a drop of moisture in the air it has all been baked dry. The shaft glows baleful and demanding ahead of them, Silmeria is drawn down toward the rim of it as she searches. It really is a very distracting thing to have in the middle of the room!
Vazkor drags his gaze away from the big, glowing pit, and then nods a bit at Raziel before he starts moving around to find something of interest. And after a while, he comes across what appears to be a working screen of somesort, casting a pale green glow upon him, and featuring a single word upon it in that language only Raziel can seemingly read. There's also a metal wheel below it, ready to be turned towards where an arrow is pointing... But before he does anything of the sort, he calls Raziel over instead.
Raziel reaches out to touch the still slightly glowing, but blank screen quietly before looking down at a series of buttons. After a few moments he slides them over, checking to see if the lights will change before he looks up at Vazkor when the man calls him over, "A moment.. what is it Vaz?"
Thaylorn takes off exploring the room, eyes tracing over things that might catch his attention. One thing in particular that does is one desk in particular with a skeleton slumped over it. "I wonder if this does something." He mutters as he retrieves from the skeletons grasp a key card before he promptly sticks it in a key-card slot on the strange board set before it.
Raziel's bank of glowing screens is near Silmeria and as he slides the switches the groove is revealed to be green but the big screen remains blank and fuzzes slightly. As the key slides into the slot the screen in front of Thaylorn flickers into life and text begins scrolling up its length. Symbols flash and swirl and move about the screen and then they all seem to fall into place and turn green which causes a deep rumbling and a THUNK as the door seals itself, the doorhandle turning slowly and with a HISS it seals. Around the room other screens hum to life, they are black but you can just about make out the light behind them as up on the vaulted ceiling orange lights begin to spin and a klakkon blares. The screen in front of Raziel suddenly blossoms into light and all the switches click back to the red position as a map of the base forms out of the haze of static. The big piston over head groans.... there is a rumbling hiss as parts of it draw up... locking into place with a metallic groan and the thrum and hiss of hydraulics. The klakkon dies down and the room almost seems to be holding its breath.... waiting for something.
"....What..." Leaning over the railing, Silmeria peers down into the shaft, eyes narrowing against the heat and distance. "What is..." And her breath catches in her throat, eyes going wide as the color drains from her tanned skin. "Hades be merciful," she breathes, grabbing a tight hold of Raziel's shoulder and backpedaling, seeking to tear him away from the console. "*RUN!!!* IT'S COMING!!"
Vazkor blinks as things start activating around him... And he looks at each of his companions in turn, ending on Thaylorn, and giving the Imp a slight frown. Turning back towards the screen then, he blinks at that too... Noting the picture of a hand spinning the wheel, and a timer starting to count down. And he's about to call out about it, when Silmeria's cry of warning rings out instead. And his mind works quick then... As instead of taking the advice and trying to run the hell away, he reaches out to take the wheel with both hands, and starts turning it, praying it does something to help them rather than kill them, "Hang on!"
Raziel's head snaps around when the door thunks closed and then looks at the center of the room beyond Silmeria. As she grabs him he hesitates. With their exit cut off the man's mind moves quickly while he stares at the screen. He tries the switches once again before scowling to himself and letting himself be dragged back by Silmeria now before he shakes his head and moves over to peer at what Vazkor is doing. "Take cover guys.. we aren't going to be getting out of here that way I don't think."
Thaylorn is surely shocked at the effect that simply inserting a card into a slot had upon the room, his eyes widening greatly in surprise as it all takes place, especially when the door closes and seals itself behind them! Whoops. And then there's Silmeria yelling "W-Wait! What's coming?!" He calls out, gaze going back down to the board in front of him to see if there's anything that might look like a button for STOP! or anything of that sort before glancing back up, potentially starting to panic at all the trouble he has obviously started!
There is a CLUNK as Vazkor starts to turn the wheel and he can feel machinery beneath it catching and starting to move with the wheel as he turns it. A mighty hiss of hydraulics and a clack, clack, clack of racheting pistons as the mighty piston in the ceiling descends the cap lowering down and sealing with a hiss around the bore-hole. The wheel jerks out of Vazkor's hand speeding up and moving on its own now as the screens around the room begin to come to life with text and graphs that waver and flicker. Some of the machines around the pit extend long tubes and pipes which plug into holes on the top of the cap that hiss and shake and then the machines they hook into begin to hum and thrum and chatter much like an airship's turbine but smaller and quieter. The orange lights are replaced as long strips of glass embedded in the ceiling start to come to life, brightening to a warm white glow much reminescent to being outside making the room rather pleasent as grills high in the walls HUM and thrum and a veritable burst of fresh pine scented air blows in and replaces the hot, humid and stagnant air that is sucked out via other grills. There is a faint chime the big screen of switches unlocks with a click the switches starting to slide across on their own, green lights turning on across the board as the big screen map of the compound changes each section from red to green. Some of them stay red however, clearly damaged areas of the base that had been shaded in red on other map the party had seen. With a beep and a click the card slides back out of its slot in front of Thaylorn a friendly female voice echoes through the room, "O gerador principal em linha, circuitos múltiplos da distribuição de poder termina, todos os sistemas baixos que saem da espera"
Fire and steam, boiling up the pit, these are all that occupy Silmeria's thoughts as she flees back up the stairs, loosing a cry of panicked dismay as the giant closed door registers. Pressing against the stone, she watches the pit, eyes wide and terrified... slowly melting away, replaced by naked confusion as the piston lowers to seal the pit off. Eyes snap up to the activating strips of light, then to the source of the voice. "...Wait... what... just happened...?"
Vazkor turns around as the mechanism he activates starts working on its own, and he watches the big piston in the middle of the area lower to seal off the hole, and notes the sudden rush of fresh air... Raising a hand to wipe his brow then, he soon starts grinning, glancing at each of the others, before resting on Silmeria, "Seems I saved the day." He casually answers, then.
Raziel claps Vazkor on the shoulder and he nods briefly to him with a smile before turning and stepping over over to motion to Silmeria, "it's alright the.." He tilts his head, listeining to the voice for a moment, his eyes narrowing before he relaxes and nods, "the main power is back onling.. something about circuits complete thats probably why the air seems fresher." A quick glance is cast to Thaylorn, "good job.. though that keycard, keep it. We'll need it to bypass some doors still I imagine." Turning then he heads over to check the map once more.
"Good job there, Vazkor." Thaylorn mumbles as his gaze goes back down to the board before him for a moment, taking note of the card sliding back out and quickly taking it from the device. Stepping back nearer the central part of the room he looks about at its reactivation, taking a deep breath as the fresh air rushes in "Sorry about that, I didn't know...It would do that." He admits, eyes flicking to the others as he mostly ignores the feminine voice, seeing as he can't understand it at all. Besides, he has Raziel to translate. "Hopefully it stays on for long enough so we can get out of here later, then." The Imp remarks as he moves over to look at the map himself.
The map shows the strange underwater base, it is pretty similar to the ones that were on display before, all the screens in this place are now on and the air is fresh, clean, it is the nicest you've had since you surfaced in this strange under-water place. Hopefully with the power back on and a new key card under Thaylorn's belt the party will be able to enter parts of the base previously cut off from them!
