While energy is malleable, energy is also finite when applied to spells. There is only so much mana, and within that spell there is only so much that can be shifted around. Sometimes the ability to strike a foe is more important than the force of the blow, so a Red Mage can take a portion of the power in a spell to link it to the target before casting, letting the magic follow the chain and strike more surely than it otherwise would.


System: Spend a turn to provide a (20% +5% per 4 ranks) bonus to a spell’s To-Hit roll, at the cost of an (80% - 5% per 4 ranks) penalty to damage
